What an awesome opportunity to serve and shape young adults
as the Dean of Student Life. Our
desire is to provide an enriching environment you can call home while growing
intellectually, spiritually, and socially.
Our Philosophy
Servant
Of All (SOA): This program forms the backbone of the SUM educational philosophy. Upon
completion of the degree program, it is expected that students have adhered to strict work schedules, prayer times, Bible studies, fasting, physical fitness,
and mentoring meetings. They will have completed practicum which will prepare
them for a life-time of service to humanity, and preparation for life-long
learning.
Mission Statement
The Student Life Department seeks to provide a total
living and learning community environment for students called to a life of
urban ministry/service through spiritual maturation, intentional relationship
building, discipleship, and Christian service. The Student Life Department
provides services and affords opportunities to enhance campus life.
Departmental staff strives to create a comfortable living and learning
community by providing personnel, resources, programs, services, and facilities
that promote and support educational achievement, social development, and
civility through local and global cultural awareness and understanding. Through
the development of this community, individual growth will occur which will
encourage students to invest in their future communities.
Spiritual formation takes place through:
- Dynamic chapel services
- A unified community within the dorms
- Personal mentorship with administration, faculty and alumni
- Serving the student body through the Student Government Association
