Prayer Journals

Prayer journals, morning devotions, chapel services, and church attendance promote the spiritual development of our students. Each student is required to fill out a daily prayer journal. Prayer journals will be handed in and graded once a month. The Prayer Journal represents 25 percent of a student's practicum grade.

Credits and Grading

Full time students are required to complete four credit hours of student ministry per quarter. Students may fulfill this requirement by taking either two 2 credit practicums or one 4 credit practicum per quarter. A student will only receive credit for those student ministry practicums in which all requirements have been met.

Full-time students can earn 24 credit hours for 6 quarters of practicums. An additional 8 credit hours can be earned in two Mardi Gras outreaches. Each student ministry will be graded according to SUM grading scale. Part of the students' grade will entail an average of their weekly practicum grades and their prayer journal grades.

The Student Prayer Journal is turned in three times each quarter and constitutes 25 percent of the Student Ministry Practicum grade.

Church and Chapel Attendance

Regular church attendance is expected for all students. Daily chapel and morning devotions (Tuesday-Friday) attendance is mandatory for all students.

Morning Devotions

The school begins each day with a time of community worship and prayer. Yielding ourselves to the leading of the Holy Spirit, we trust Him to glorify Jesus Christ through our lives.
