Student Life
Each day at SUM is designed to promote the spiritual and social development of our students. Students learn life skills through their association with other students and faculty members from different countries, cultures, and ethnic backgrounds.
Spiritual Life
The school day begins with a time of community worship and prayer. At mid-day, spiritual growth is further enhanced during Chapel service. Students enter into a dynamic time of worship and are challenged by the life changing proclaimation of the Word of God. Each student is encouraged to have a consistent devotional life including fasting, prayer, and Biblical study.
Social Development
The SUM environment stimulates an opportunity for Bible-based social growth. Students are yoked together by their consecration and dedication to impact the world for Jesus Christ. The common commitment provides an ideal setting for the development of covenant relationships for life.
Associate of Arts Degree
SUM offers an Associate of Arts degree. This degree focuses on academic preparation and real-life applications. The lectures, class interaction, and study times provide the challenges necessary to expand the students Bible-based knowledge of God and ministry. Our two year degree operates on the quarter system, which allows students to participate in a a wider range of courses. SUM's are transferable to other Bible colleges across the nation.
Faculty
Our instructors are chosen for their educational expertise, sound Biblical theology, consistent walk with Christ, and years of proven ministry experience. Their dedication is unprecedented.
Classroom
The classroom provides the bridge between an exciting learning environment and practical application in our urban communities. Unique insight into academic approaches for reaching urban communities occurs when students from diverse ethnic and church backgrounds interact during SUM classes.
Real Life Situations
We believe that no school can adaquately prepare men and women for front line ministry without first exposing them to the stresses and pressures of real life situations. The student ministry program at SUM is designed to provide real life ministry experience. Each week students feel the pain of lost humanity and learn to deal with a multitude of urban issues from a Biblical perspective.
Mentoring
Each student has the priviledge of co-laboring with SUM faculty, local pastors and ministers directly impacting our urban communities with the Gospel. This mentoring provides a vital opportunity for students to glean insight and practical experience from those who are on the cutting edge of urban ministry.
