God has raised up the School of Urban Missions to answer the cries of the hurting and helpless in the urban community. We are preparing God-called men and women to be voices of hope in the midst of despair and lighthouses in the midst of perilous seas.

On a bright and beautiful Sunday afternoon in the middle of an inner city housing project, violence and pandemonium erupted. Two young men with colored bandanas over their faces fired 32 bullets at a young man. Mothers, children, teens, and the elderly scrambled for cover during those brief

devastating moments of that siege. In the aftermath, only yards from our position, lay someone's son--a soul for whom Jesus had died.

That day, I and others experienced a callous part of our society which has cast off restraint and turned its back on God. This experience has forever shaped my view of this college and its ministry.

This college offers you the opportunity to be challenged, changed, and equipped to minister in urban settings across this nation and around the world. You will be taught and mentored by a faculty qualified both academically and ministerially. You will experience dynamic and life- changing chapel services. From the outset, your life will be filled with real life ministry experiences.

If God has placed a burning desire within you to reach the inner cities, if He has given you a love for studying His Word, if you want Christ more than anything else, then School of Urban Missions (SUM) is the right college for you. Not only will you prepare for the ministry, you will be in the ministry. You will reach the lost, run with the fire, and stand in the gap for those who are perishing. This is training in the trenches. Welcome to the School of Urban Missions!
