GET PERSONALLY INVOLVED!
After hurricanes Katrina and Rita, SUM was asked by the Jefferson Parish elected officials to coordinate relief efforts into
New Orleans
and the surrounding areas. SUM still finds itself a strong pillar of support to the city and the people of this area. The Lord has anointed SUM and our volunteers “for such a time as this”. Dylan Schultz (Director of SUM Hurricane Relief) has been appointed as a liaison between SUM and the elected city officials to head and strengthen the on-going relief efforts. These efforts are being directed through the city of
Gretna
, which is the Parish seat.
The need has not lessened. We need your help now! We have several diverse and interesting ways for you to get involved today! We are always recruiting eager and zealous volunteers to minister directly to the overwhelming needs of this community. Whether you are cleaning out a resident’s home, or cutting back the trees and debris that was thrown about during the storm, God will use the joy found in you through His Living Hope, Christ Jesus. God can use you to bring healing and liberty to the people of
New Orleans
through the hope that abounds in the children of the Lord.
Since August 2005, SUM has welcomed over 1,550 volunteers who have met over 1,300 needs in the
New Orleans
area. It is estimated that 174,000 homes were flooded, damaging the home and destroying its contents. After ten months of hurricane relief ministry, SUM remains a strong pillar of support to the city and people of this area. SUM has committed to continue providing relief to the area through December 2006. We will continue to recruit eager and zealous volunteers to minister directly to the needs of this community. We are sending out a call for action. We pray God motivates you to answer.
